New release: Sonzeira: Brasil Bam Bam Bam

Brasil Bam Bam Bam is the brainchild of the DJ Gilles Peterson,  and the lovechild of one of the finest gatherings of artists to be found in modern day Brazil.  Peterson pulled together the musicians, singers, writers and producers and formed Sonzeira, and together they have created an album that truly spans the breadth of Brazilian music, across the country and throughout the musical history.

Along with our own writers and artists Demus and Rob Gallagher (sometimes collectively known as William Adamson, sometimes as 2 Banks Of 4) Gilles’ handpicked crew of leaders and legends includes Ed Motta, Seu Jorge, Elza Soares, Marcos Valle.  Needless to say the heights of Tropicalia, Baile Funk, Samba and Bossa are reached throughout.  On his reason for making the album Peterson writes “I wanted to try and cover it all – to make a kind of Buena Vista meets club culture, but to keep it sonically very modern.”

Brasil Bam Bam Bam will be the first release of the newly reborn Talkin Loud label, which was of course Peterson’s first lovechild with Universal Records in the 90s and 00s.  Released on Monday 19th, you can order it here and here and check out the trailer here..
