'Many labels, particularly classical, were slow to use digital platforms and even seemed ‘in fear of it’, he says. Most of those labels face the expense of signing and recording artists, for which they say streaming revenue provides scant reward. PMI does not face those costs but does have to make the recordings available on about 80 digital platforms, many of which have different metadata requirements.'
